Foot treatments are undertaken by husband and wife team Karen and Lawrence Griffiths SAC Dip RFHP in our foot health clinics. They are both members of the Register of Foot Health Practitioners and abide by a strict codes of ethics and professional practice.
Our treatment rooms have been purpose built to exacting requirements. Only top quality instruments are used and these are sterilised via an ultrasonic bath and autoclave before use. We also use single use disposable items such as scalpel blades which are disposed of after use. All surfaces are disinfected before each patient arrives, and nitrile medical gloves are worn during all treatments. |
Thick Nails - Toe Nail Thinning - Have your toe nails thickened? This can be due to fungal infections or pressure - but they can be thinned. We use a diamond bur attached to a medical grade Hadewe drill to slowly reduce the thickness. Once this is done your nails will be cut and filed.
Callus and Corn Removal - Callus (hard skin) and corn elimination! Your callus will be carefully removed by scalpel - the only efficient way to deal with callus. Any corns present will be removed, again with a scalpel. These, along with any other dry or rough areas of the foot, will then be smoothed with a rotating Moores Disc (approx 10,000 rpm). Finally hydrating cream containing 10% urea will be massaged into your feet. The result? Very very smooth feet.... Heel Fissures (Cracked Heels) Treatment - Any thick skin present on your heels will be removed by scalpel if required. Your heels will then be smoothed with a rotating Moores Disc (approx 10,000 rpm). If appropriate Hydrous Wool Fat will be applied to the cracks and then covered in Fleecy Web - which should be kept in place for at least 24 hours. Finally hydrating cream containing 25% urea will be massaged into your feet. This treatment may reduce the cracks over time – advice will be given on home treatment including use of a foot file and application of a hydrating cream and moisture socks. Ingowing Toenails - A very painful condition! We can treat mild cases that do not require local anaesthetic. A blacks file will be used to reduce the nail edge along the side wall, along with a small portion of the nail removed if necessary. If we find the nail is likely to require nail surgery under local anaesthetic we will advise you to visit your GP for a referral to the NHS for this to be undertaken. Most cases however are mild and easily treated. We will also provide advice of how to avoid the toenail ingrowing again. |
